Privilege and Entitlement - Words often misused

Privilege is about unearned advantages, while entitlement is about expectations.

Privilege is when someone is given benefits or protections based on power or proximity to power.

Privilege can be based on social identities like race, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, and more.

Entitlement is when someone has an inflated sense of deservingness as a result of power and the benefits of privilege. Entitlement can also mean believing oneself to be inherently deserving of certain privileges or special treatment.

Entitled can also mean having a right to certain benefits or privileges. For example, "He was entitled to a full refund because the mistake was the company's fault".
